Thor.
Thor walks through the front door, clad in armor and carrying his weapon on his belt. His movements are not silent while he thunks along, expression grim and gaze focused on an elevator door. Someone, somewhere, will notify the important people in Stark Tower that Thor has arrived. After he enters the elevator, Thor punches a button and crosses his arms... ... a few minutes later he arrives somewhere near the offices of Pepper Potts. He exits, heavy steps persisting.
Pepper Potts does not seem to be surprised to /see/ Thor, even if she is--surprised to see him. He is, after all, a lot larger than she is used to and it reflects in the widening of her gaze that travels over the Norse god as she exits from her office to meet him in reception. Between her fingers she holds a perfectly crisp envelope, and her skirts even bare little wrinkles. "Mr. Odinson," she deducts with a professional smile.
Thor looks down at Pepper while she approaches. He focuses on her for several moments before an expression of recognition spreads across his features. "Miss Potts," he replies, tone halfway between question and statement. Bowing slightly, he reaches for her hand, and if she allows grasps it - and plants a gentle kiss on the back, near her knuckles. "I had hoped we would meet again."
"I had as well," Pepper says with a hint of humor to her words, her gaze trailing down to that press of lips before she draws her hand away politely, smile still lingering. Instead, she holds the envelope out towards the Asgardian, bearing a certified stamp and seal. "A bill of damages for your father."
Thor straightens and arches an eyebrow. He takes the envelope, armor clanking as he does, and rips it open with a single swipe of his index finger. He takes the bill out and examines it while saying, "Which damages?" in his booming voice.
Pepper winces only slightly at the booming voice, though her voice holds steady and mild as she answers, "To Stark Tower. Does he have insurance? I could send the bill directly to them."
"I see," Thor replies while he skims the bill. He flips a page, then folds the bill. "My father has no legal engagements with this realm," Thor explains. "Who is Stark claiming as directly responsible for the damages?" Thor asks. "My father has not set foot, much less damaged, anything on Earth since your father's greatest sire was born. I do not understand how you can hold him accountable."
"Not legally, no, but it was his adoptive son who caused the damage, and we thought he may like a chance to redress the issue," Pepper explains in turn, a brush of apology over her words for the misunderstanding.
"I will make your document known to Odin. It will be presented during the trial of Loki, which is ongoing," Thor explains. "The court will address the issue of Stark's tower then, and decide on any compensation." He folds the letter again and places it within a pocket. "Until then, my presence will suffice as payment."
"I am not sure how to value that," says Pepper wryly, her lips quirking into another smile as she folds her own hands in front of herself, now empty. "I am sure Mr. Stark thinks of it as priceless, however."
"I am allowing him to investigate technology that surpasses this realm's by eons," Thor explains, "and my presence is enough to safeguard this realm from most threats. Few would dare challenge the son of Odin," Thor points out. He smiles. "I assure you - I am valuable."
"I don't disagree, Mr. Odinson," Pepper assures quickly, the line of her lips smoothing out into something more neutral. "I will certainly tell Mr. Stark that he should keep that in mind when considering the damages to Stark Tower." She pauses, adding, "Earth is lucky to have you."
"Hah!" Thor says, laughing a little. His voice booms. After a moment he says, "In some ways. In others, you are not." Quietly, a shadow passes over his expression. But it doesn't linger. "That reminds me - tell me how you have fared since the invasion?"
Pepper's brow lifts slightly at that shadow paired with words, and she questions mildly, "In what ways, if you mind me asking?" She smoothes her hand over her skirt in a gesture as she answers to the last, "I am fine, thank you. We here at Stark Industries have been busy rebuilding, and I was lucky to not be on the ground when the invasion happened."
"We Asgardians," Thor begins, "we are like bilchsteim. You have never heard of this beast. It is a giant creature with scales and antlers. They trample the ground, and tear down what is in their path. And when they meet another, they are ruthless in their destruction," he explains. "For now, I safeguard this realm. But when another arrives, I will have need to trample again." He grunts sadly, lowering his head, and does not comment further.
"And you leave very big footprints, but I have a feeling the destruction would be larger without you on our side," Pepper says carefully, offering a warmed smile to Thor at the sad grunt.
"That point does little to change my mood, but thank you nonetheless," Thor replies with a brief smile. He grows serious again. "Where were you duing the invasion?" he asks.
"Flying back from D.C., glued to my television," admits Pepper, eyebrows furrowing slightly at the admission, or perhaps at the memory.
"The air was not a safe place to be," Thor points out. "I would have thought Tony would have communicated with you." He hrms a little and crosses his massive arms across his chest.
"Not the safest, but we were still some miles away when it happened. I do not know what the pilot would have done if--." But it didn't and he didn't, and Pepper dismisses it with a tight smile as she answers instead, "He tried, but I missed the call."
Thor nods his head. He smiles a little at a memory before he explains, "Perhaps in the future, your realm will rely on a more reliable system for communication." He chuckles, but even his chuckle is loud. "When I wish to speak with my father, I need only shout his name. Of course, he often does not answer. I wonder if it is due to my not being loud enough, or if he chooses not to. So, I usually yell multiple times." He laughs out loud, booming. "Perhaps our system is not so much better than yours."
"You only shout his name," Pepper repeats, obviously taking a moment to digest the Asgardian communication system for all that she still smiles. "I certainly hope it isn't the latter, but I am sure your father must be a very busy man."
"He is not a man, but yes," Thor answers. "He is frequently burdened with great tasks and purpose." His arms uncross. "I must see to your document and to other matters. Before I depart, I have a request of a personal nature. It is perhaps demeaning to a person of your talents, but it is also a matter of some embarrasment for me," Thor explains.
"Please, it is the least I can do. What is it, Mr. Odinson?" Pepper replies politely, smiling again at the Asgardian.
"I require typing and computer lessons. I have lived on this realm for five years, but I have not had much experience with your technology," Thor explains. "And until I become proficient in the use of your computers, I will have need of an assistant. It was my hope you could recommend someone, as I do not trust SHIELD to provide me with someone who is not a spy. Oh, and I will warn you - they will need to be sturdy." For whatever reason. Perhaps he intends to have them lift heavy objects and walk up flights of stairs, too.
"It seems to be a very, ah, common theme with some Avengers. I wouldn't wander at arranging a class for anyone who needs it, if you would not mind that? I would be even willing to teach what I can, if it weren't too much of a time committment," muses Pepper curiously, her gaze brightening with a brief moment of humor and thoughtfulness. She is likely already thinking out the problem, especially as she adds, "I am sure I can find an order desktop around that will be sturdier, or perhaps custom-built? And I can find an assistant for you. That is not a problem."
"I would not mind a class," Thor says. "Time commitments are difficult for me as well," he points out, tapping his chin. "I can provide money for a private tutor. And a custom machine would suit me. Not due to vanity - I am much stronger than I look." His muscles flex a little. Perhaps he isn't much stronger than he looks.
Pepper's gaze draws along those muscles only for a moment and then she is nodding agreeably. She says, "I will arrange something for you and send you the details, and for Captain Rogers as well. Would you mind if I talk to Director Fury about the possibility of classes? Not of an assistant."
"That would be... fine," Thor answers with a nod of his head. "So long as he is not the instructor," Thor adds with a chuckle. "Thank you."
"He could certainly motivate you into learning," Pepper allows, but she tips her chin in acknowledgement. "It was nice to see you, Mr. Odinson. I will have this all arranged."
"Miss Potts," he replies, and then he bows slightly, but does not take her hand again. Instead, he turns and clomps back towards the elevator, armor rattling slightly while he steps.
Does this count as personal assistant stealing?
